"The Humane Society of Wilkes will not hold outdoor public adoption fairs during extremely cold weather. However, we do invite you to visit the Wilkes County Animal Shelter (408 Call Street, Wilkesboro) to see animals available for adoption or visit our website, , to see cats and dogs in foster care. Please care for all your outside animals during this extremely cold weather - provide them shelter, fresh water and food. If at all possible, bring your four legged friends inside and enjoy their companionship!
We continue to have registration for the low cost spay/neuter clinic every Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 at the Wilkes County Public Library. For more details about this program call 336-984-0227

Low Cost Spay/Neuter Transport
We are pleased to be able to offer this service through the SNIP Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic. Specializing in Spay/Neuter surgeries, SNIP is able to offer their services at a reduced rate. SNIP Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic is located at 3224 20th Ave. SE, Hickory, NC 28602. Your pet will be transported to the clinic, have their surgery, be monitored overnight, and returned the next day. Puppies, kittens, dogs and cats are available for adoption from the Wilkes County Animal Shelter, 408 Call Street, Wilkesboro, NC. Their telephone number is 336-903-7688, and their hours are 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, and 10:30 AM to noon on Saturday. The cost of adoption is $65.00 for a cat, $85.00 for a dog under 50 pounds and $95.00 for dogs 50 pounds and over. This fee includes initial vaccines and worming, a rabies vaccine, and spaying or neutering.
